Augmenting priority rule heuristics with justification and rollout to solve the resource-constrained project scheduling problem

چکیده
The key question addressed by the resource-constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) is to determine the start times for each activity such that precedence and resource constraints are satisfiedwhile achieving some objective. Priority rule-based heuristics are widely used for large problems. Rollout and justification can be integrated with priority rule heuristics to solve the RCPSP. We develop several such procedures and examine the resulting solution quality and computational cost. We present empirical evidence that these procedures are competitive with the best solution procedures described in the literature. 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Detecting communities of workforces for the multi-skill resource-constrained project scheduling problem: A dandelion solution approach
This paper proposes a new mixed-integer model for the multi-skill resource-constrained project scheduling problem (MSRCPSP). The interactions between workers are represented as undirected networks. Therefore, for each required skill, an undirected network is formed which shows the relations of human resources. In this paper, community detection in networks is used to find the most compatible wo...
متن کاملAn Energy-efficient Mathematical Model for the Resource-constrained Project Scheduling Problem: An Evolutionary Algorithm
In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient mathematical model for the resource-constrained project scheduling problem to optimize makespan and consumption of energy, simultaneously. In the proposed model, resources are speed-scaling machines. The problem is NP-hard in the strong sense. Therefore, a multi-objective fruit fly optimization algorithm (MOFOA) is developed. The MOFOA uses the VIKO...
متن کاملResource Constrained Project Scheduling with Material Ordering: Two Hybridized Meta-Heuristic Approaches (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Resource constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) is mainly investigated with the objective of either minimizing project makespan or maximizing project net present value. However, when material planning plays a key role in a project, the existing models cannot help determining material ordering plans to minimize material costs. In this paper, the RCPSP incorporated with the material order...
متن کاملA multi-objective resource-constrained optimization of time-cost trade-off problems in scheduling project
This paper presents a multi-objective resource-constrained project scheduling problem with positive and negative cash flows. The net present value (NPV) maximization and making span minimization are this study objectives. And since this problem is considered as complex optimization in NP-Hard context, we present a mathematical model for the given problem and solve three evolutionary algorithms;...
متن کاملA multi-objective resource-constrained project scheduling problem with time lags and fuzzy activity durations
The resource-constrained project scheduling problem is to find a schedule that minimizes the project duration subject to precedence relations and resource constraints. To further account for economic aspects of the project, one may add an objective of cash nature to the problem. In addition, dynamic nature and variations in real world are known to introduce uncertainties into data. Therefore, t...
